StudioKraft Creative Web Services have updated their terrific tool that’s particularly suited to PPC and local SEO – Find Cities In Radius.

This script will list cities within a certain radius from a starting zip or post code and works for the UK in addition to the US, Canada and Australia.

Trim Google Search URL – Now with Added Hash!

As more and more people are getting the hash variation of the Google results URL here’s another update to the original Bookmarklet To Trim Google Search URL to also handle the “#” variation of Google results.

The following version also adds pws=0 to turn to personalied search and num=100 to display 100 results at once:

At the suggestion of Martin Bromley of Smart Landing I also made a version that rather than just simplfy the URL with the hash it replaces the hash with the old style “/search?” URL.

Wait there’s more! It also doesn’t open a new window with the results this time, but creates a textarea box on the actual Google results page. It also adds the pws=0 and num=100 to the URL to get 100 unpersonalised results. This lets you copy the cleaned up Google URL in the old style – this is useful for instance in the AdWords keyword tool which doesn’t like the hash version of the search URL.

The textarea box will generally appear above the search box near the top of the page, but it does depend on the version of Google you are using.

Links On Page Bookmarklet pt. ii

After I wrote the Google Results Bookmarklet some feedback form Marty Lamers led me to revise my previous Onpage Links Bookmarklet to also include the text boxes that make it easy to grab the links.

I’ve updated the styling to highlight the nofollow links, and to “stripe” the output to make it easier to read.

At the bottom of the page I’ve created several of the textarea boxes, so you can grab various types of links:

All the no followed links
All the followed links
Just the external links
Just the external followed links
The external nofollowed links

Once more drag the link in the big green box to your bookmark bar and when you’ve on a page you want to analyse hit the bookmarklet. It will open a new window showing all the links and with several text boxes with the links as detailed above.

Google Results Bookmarklet

The following bookmarklet will display the google results for a term in a format that’s easier for copying.

Just drag the following link in the big green box to your bookmark bar and when you’ve completed a search in Google it will open a new window with the results listed with position, URL and anchor text (the page title normally).

Below that are two boxes so you can easily grab the URLs themselves or use the HTML to make a resources page.

This video should make its usage clear.

Onpage Links Bookmarklet

Often when researching backlinks I’ll want to quickly see the onpage / outgoing links from a given page. This bookmarklet displays all the links from a page, gives their anchor text, and also the “rel” attribute for spotting nofollows etc.

Because WordPress gets a little confused with the javascript code, click here for the onpage links bookmarklet. From that page please drag the big button to your bookmarks toolbar.

Back Links Bookmarklet

A vital component of any competitive research or SEO review is research into the back links (or incoming links) for a domain.

To help with the research I’ve created a bookmarklet that will search Majestic SEO and Yahoo! with the linkdomain parameter. Both searches open in new windows.

Backtweets Bookmarklet to Search Twitter

BackTweets is a very useful service that searches for a URL in the major URL shortening services on Twitter.

Their bookmarklet takes over the current window and away from the content you want to search twitter for. My version below will open a search in a new window or tab preserving the original page.

When you are on a page that you want to see if it has been twittered or tweeted already, just hit the bookmark and a new window will open with the BackTweets search.
